Tuross Sports and Recreation Centre Display (October 2017)
Our members went down to the Tuross Sports and Recreation Centre for the Tuross Model Ship and Hobbies Exhibition. It was an excellent day, with hobby king Australia providing a popular display, lucky dip, door prizes and some expert help and information. They had some models on display, right next to our display. Peter brought his Pheonix R/C simulator so that people can get a feel for flying without the risk of an expensive model crashing. Almost everyone brought some planes down which made for a substantial display.
Sunday, 11th September
A beautiful day this morning, little wind in the morning slowly picking up made for a good day of flying, with Stuart and his Dad enjoying the perfect conditions flying their Funtana and Yak (pictured below). We had 2 new guys, Tony and Gary come out for a bit of a look and Gary thought he might have a fly and everything went successfully and he did very well. Lachie had a fly of Ron's 35-year old motor glider. It was built as a catapult launch and later converted to a motor glider and it now flies really well. Lachlan had a few short flights with his UMX whipit glider by catching some slope lift from the hill behind the shed.

A bit of wind today didn't stop us having fun. Paul was practising skilled aerobatics in a Harrier attitude (a high angle of attack while managing throttle and elevator to continue moving forward in a straight line) when his engine unexpectedly stalled, leading to his plane stalling, going nose in from about 6 ft of the ground. Luckily, a slight crack in mid fuselage and a broken prop was the only visible damage - testimony to Paul's building skill! We saw some Coreflute scratch built airplanes, They look a little like F-22 Raptors, they were very sturdy and flew nice and slow. It had only 2 9 gram servos and one motor.
Sunday, 26th June
This Sunday was an excellent day for flying with low speed, heading straight down the strip. Paul had a good day, flying his 1700-1800 mm orange Edge(pictured below) doing some harrier flight attitude low to the ground, and crazy aerobatics a bit higher up. We also had an extremely fast quadcopter (pictured below) flown by Chris, featuring a carbon fibre frame, a 2 cell 1500 mah battery FPV(First Person View) system, led lights and bullnose props that just miss the frame and camera. Chris also bought his blue Sbach 340(pictured below) from Hangar 9 with an extremely large electric motor with an even larger battery powering it, a 5000 mah 6 cell which is all necessary for such a high performance aircraft.
Saturday, 7th May
Saturday was calm for the best part of the day - the best weather we have had for months, with heaps of planes going up. New to the club and returning to the hobby after a long break, we saw Peter back to give it a go and have some fun. Joe is new to this hobby and has been honing his skills on the simulator. He paid us a visit for a successful maiden of his apprentice, with Lionel taking it up to altitude then handing Joe the controls, with Joe's simulator practice paying off and he was then able to pull off an excellent landing on his very first flight in the real world. Excellent effort Joe, keep it up. Lachlan got some expert advice from Ron regarding his sailplane and was able to get some lift off the hill.
Anzac Day Fly-In 2016
As usual, the Anzac Day fly in and BBQ was an excellent success with 28 people attending and Lionel working his magic on the barbie. There were plenty of Warbirds to honour the spirit of the day. We had some visitors and old familiar faces attend the day including Jeff from Cooma, John from Narooma and Peter from up the hill and some partners and wives with their tasty delights to share. Flying models including a CAC Boomerang, S.E.5A towing an Australian flag , B-25 Liberator, and a vast array of smaller warbirds and conventional foamies. Nice, clear weather with little wind picking up later on.
Anthony showed off his amazing skill by performing a perfect auto rotate landing of his helicopter following a lean engine stall.

Sunday, 10th April
We had an excellent turnout today. The wind was nice and calm early off, picking up to a gusty breeze later on. We had an excellent scale Sopwith WWI biplane(pictured below), which enjoyed the soft wind. There were some nice aerobatic flying displays by Stuart and his Dad, with their Precision Aerobatics Bandit and Hangar 9 FunTana (both pictured below). We had only one major crash, a Bixler 2 had a mid air brown out, entered a steep dive, and the wings then folded which led to a large *thud*.
Sunday, 20th March 2016
Today we suffered wind, that continued to change directions which made it hard to land and takeoff. Thankfully we had no major crashes. We saw Peter's new Sbach 342(pictured below), which had a successful maiden flight and following a couple of adjustments had a second flight in the challenging conditions. We also saw a cool little balsa plane(pictured below) built and flown by Daryl, which seemed to handle nicely in the wind.
Sunday, 6th March 2016
This time we only had 8 people go out, but we had a visitor, Chris, with a HUGE t-rex 450 helicopter (pictured below), which is always fun to watch. He also brought down a big Das UglyStik (also pictured below). In the early morning to about 11 AM there was no wind whatsoever but that changed a little later on, with the wind picking up.
Sunday, 28th of February 2016
We had a good turnout, all looking forward to a nice flying day after the showers the day before. We had two crashes, Lachie's Apprentice S 15E and, the flight after, his 2 month old Artizan. Both he says will fly again, thanks to Paul having some spare bits.
The day started out calm, no wind at all, the grass was a bit dewy, but nothing to crazy, the sun fixed that pretty quick and it made for a nice day. Later on, the wind picked up, fairly gusty but nothing we can't handle. Overall it was a good day for flying, lots of people and plenty of action.
